Informed Choices When Selecting Rhododendrons for Your Garden
with Alan Campbell
Rhododendron cinnabarinum
Alan Campbell’s PowerPoint presentation helps sort through the thousands of rhododendron plants available to gardeners visiting nurseries and plant sales this spring.
He will speak about:
Some of his favourite rhododendrons such as Rhododendron augustinii
Old, faithful and reliable hybrids — the solid choices for every garden such as R. ‘Taurus’ and R. ‘Fantastica’
New, stunning hybrids created by outstanding hybridizers, such as R. ‘Starbright Champagne’
Some fine species rhododendrons with unique characteristics such as R. pachysanthum
There will also be time for Questions & Answers
Alan Campbell is one of the most knowledgeable rhododendron experts on Vancouver Island. He has served in various capacities at local, regional, and International levels of the American Rhododendron Society. His former five-acre garden in Shawnigan Lake was a popular destination for rhododendron enthusiasts who, over the years, witnessed the garden develop from newly planted one-gallon sized plants to a mature rhododendron woodland through which Alan and Sandy, and their guests, could stroll in wonder.
