Rooted in Passion,

Cultivating a Rhodo Community

Welcome to the Cowichan Valley Rhododendron Society, a place where a shared love of gardens and rhododendrons brings people together.

Nestled in Duncan on southern Vancouver Island, our members cultivate both plants and friendships as we explore the beauty and diversity of these remarkable “rose trees.” As part of the American Rhododendron Society and the BC Council of Garden Clubs, we’re dedicated to learning, growing, and celebrating the art of gardening.

Whether you’re new to rhododendrons or a lifelong enthusiast, you’ll find inspiration and community here.

Learn More

Every bloom tells a story.

Our members willingly share their amazing knowledge of rhododendrons and companion plants with others. They also share and exchange special plants from their gardens with one another. Outdoor activities are planned that allow members to enjoy their shared passions.

Newsletters are sent to members each month and are also posted on the website, containing valuable information.

The CVRS publishes monthly newsletters and hosts monthly meetings with educational speakers, presentations, and demonstrations. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at The Hub, 2375 Koksilah Road, Duncan, B.C., and begin at 7 pm.

Bloom Awaits Your Garden

The CVRS organizes a large Annual Cowichan Valley Rhododendron Plant Sale, where members and the public can purchase often hard-to-find rhododendrons and other plants to beautify their gardens. This garden event is also the venue for the Rhododendron Truss (flower) show.

Events and venues are advertised on social media sites and The Voice. On occasion, special plants are offered online. Most years, the CVRS selects a local community garden to which it donates large, beautiful rhododendron plants. In other years, it offers donations to organizations which protect and promote the genus Rhododendron.

Garden Tours

Tours of private, local, and regional gardens offered to CVRS, and affiliate American Rhododendron Society members are popular activities, as are workshops such as propagating rhododendrons from cuttings or seeds.
